Norðansprotinn

The North Wand is an innovation competition where you look for the most interesting innovation ideas in the Nordic Region. It is suggested that participants come up with ideas in line with the focus Norðanáttar food, water and energy. Noí collaborates with the University of Akureyri and Hólar University College.

The North Wand is the first event at the start of the new cycle Norðanáttar. The competition first took place in May 2022 during Innovation Weekn and is scheduled to hold the competition next in September 2023.

Arrangement

  • Everyone can enter the competition with or without an idea. Registration is open to all and it costs nothing to participate. Applicants can be alone or be part of a team that would like to contribute to making the idea a reality.

  • You register by filling out the registration form here on the website (NOTE! Norðansprotinn took place in May 2022 and will be held again in 2023).

  • Following registration, you will receive an email with further information, including the preparation and submission of a one-pager describing the idea in more detail.

  • Subsequently, 5-8 applicants will have the opportunity to present the idea to the jury and guests at the final event.

  • The winner of the competition will be awarded the title Norðansprotinn and ISK 500,000 in prize money.

Norðansprotinn AGENDA 2022:
Iceland Innovation Week May 16th - 20th

  • Registration - alone or in a team, with or without an idea.

  • Submission of a one-pagerwith the following main elements of your idea:
    - Name of company, product or service.
    - The problem that the solution solves.
    - The solution (the product/service and how it solves the problem)
    - Target audience, who's the solution for?
    - Revenue model, how do you make money?
    - Timeline so far and what lies ahead
    - Further information e.g. the team and its strengths, logo, photos etc)

  • Who's going forward? - 5-8 finalists announced that will have the opportunity to present at the final event.

  • Pitch training – Training with RATA consulting company.

  • Who will be Norðansprotinn? Final event, presentations and awards ceremony.

    • Hreinn Þór Hauksson, Managing Director of Business and Product Development at Icelandic Securities.

    • Rannveig Björnsdóttir, Associate Professor at the University of Akureyri.

    • Eyrún Gígja Káradóttir , project manager at Ecoenergy.
